Amazing Diane von Furstenberg Home Collection

Diane Von Furstenberg may be famous for having invented the jersey wrap dress and other iconic fashion designs, but now she is also famous for her chic home collection: DVF Home. The collection, which debuted in February, includes a line of rugs, bedding and tableware and other home accessories. In an interview with House Beautiful, she said, "color and pattern are important in all my designs," von Furstenberg says.

Shown here is an electric and gorgeous tablescape that von Furstenberg created for House Beautiful magazine. She’s always used eclectic prints and bright colors in her fashion collections and she’s carried on that love of print and color into her home collection as well. Just about everything here is by von Furstenberg: the flower vases, votives, place mats, flatware, plates and napkins.

Von Furstenberg has quite several rugs through The Rug Company that she has been selling since 2009, all of them beautiful, but this is my favorite (eh, what can I say? I’m a sucker for zebra print!). This 100% Tibetan wool rug would look gorgeous in any room! Make sure to add other accessories to the space such as table lamps, end tables, and mirrors to pull the room together.

This serving tray, and many other items in her home collection, was inspired by Joan Miro. This tray is quite beautiful in person, I’d use it as a decorative object and place it on a mantel or a coffee table and a little collection of tchotchkes.

Choose the room with the best light

A kid needs a room to be only his own. The lightning is very important too. During the day, try to provide as much as it’s possible natural light, and use the bulb (or any other source of artificial light) only at night. Remember that your little one’s room has to be the most light full in the entire house. Also, the walls need to be wallpapered or treated with washable dye and painted in discreet colors. About choosing the right color, or wallpaper, ask him his opinion to find out the “client’s” preferences.

Make sure the temperature stays between 64-68 F (18-20 C) degrees

Let him sleep alone, and even he won’t like this, try to convince him to sleep with no lamp light.

The distinctive triangular shape and architecture of the Chamberlain pad was a sight all in itself, and was definitely one of a kind. The home featured 200 tons of stonework and massive redwood beams throughout with 50 foot ceilings. You may not have a space that features a lot of stunning architecture; there are still little details you can incorporate into your space that can help it feel more personalized. For instance, crown molding can be an inexpensive option. There are even polyurethane crown moldings available that won’t mildew but look like plaster or wood. Different lighting options such as striking pendant lamps or floor lamps can elevate a space to a sophisticated level. Something as simple as changing the pulls and knobs on your kitchen cabinets and doors can change the entire style of a space to suit your liking. Chamberlain was famous for entertaining guests and holding parties in his 8000 square foot bachelor pad. With a Cleopatra-inspired bathtub at the end of his bed, it’s fair to say that all areas of his bachelor pad were meant for entertaining. Whether or not you plan on holding the types of parties and company that Chamberlain had, you can still enhance your space so that it is much more suitable for accompanying guests. Open floor layouts are best for entertaining.
