Swiss villa fully embedded in landscape

Posted by Bogdan on January 4, 2010 | No Comments

In the Swiss village of Vals, two architects: Bjarne Mastenbroek and Christian Müller, developed a construction that doesn’t look residential, as the authorities demanded, but it’s still a very luxurious villa.

The access is provided via an existing wooden barn and trough an underground tunnel all the way to a cut in the mountain, which makes the entire structure presence limited to minimum.

Being built with local manpower, the project had the support of local authorities and it was realized and designed simultaneous.

Paris Hilton’s Doghouse

Posted by elutzik on October 5, 2009 | 2 Comments

Paris Hilton, the eccentric heiress had a 300 sq. ft, $325,000 dog house built for her six dogs, which sits behind her Beverly Hills mansion and is furnished with designer doggie products. The house has two floors, a crystal chandelier hanging in the bedroom complete with central air and even a closet for her dogs.

Paris Hilton about the doghouse:  “It’s a miniature version of my house.”

“I designed it with the help of my interior decorator, Faye Resnick. I wanted it to be fun, cute, comfortable and beautiful. My friends just love it and think it’s so adorable and cool.”

“They love lying on the balcony, playing in their backyard and hanging out on their living room furniture. They appreciate the house that Mommy built for them,” she continued. "The dogs love to dress up. My friends say they have a better wardrobe than most people.”

Michael Jackson’s Neverland

Posted by elutzik on October 5, 2009 | 1 Comment

This Tudor style house and land, formerly called Sycamore Valley Ranch was purchased in 1988 by Michael Jackson, and turned into a Disney fantasyland. When he arrived, he added mock-Victorian buildings and attractions that evoked a sense of play. Neverland (from the fantasy land of Peter Pann) was not only Michael Jackson’s home, but also a private amusement park.

In Neverland you can find attractions like:

  • a floral clock
  • a zoo
  • two railroads
  • a roller coaster
  • a Ferris wheel
  • a carousel
  • bumper cars

Michael Jackson left Neverland in 2005 after a series of police searches. Jackson said the searches violated the beauty and innocence of Neverland. He dismantled the carousel and Ferris wheel and dismissed most of the Neverland staff.
