House built from recycled materials

Posted by Bogdan on February 5, 2010 | 3 Comments

This awesome house was built only from recycled materials. As you can see in the pictures, it has a small wood bridge, that takes you to another house tree.

Another cool thing is the wall covered with broken mirrors that creates a strange effect of huge space (don’t be fooled).

The ceiling looks amazing on both sides, interior and exterior. Outside it looks like it’s waving or it’s made of rubber.

Swiss villa fully embedded in landscape

Posted by Bogdan on January 4, 2010 | No Comments

In the Swiss village of Vals, two architects: Bjarne Mastenbroek and Christian Müller, developed a construction that doesn’t look residential, as the authorities demanded, but it’s still a very luxurious villa.

The access is provided via an existing wooden barn and trough an underground tunnel all the way to a cut in the mountain, which makes the entire structure presence limited to minimum.

Being built with local manpower, the project had the support of local authorities and it was realized and designed simultaneous.

Consider choosing your furniture from concepts

Posted by Bogdan on January 3, 2010 | 1 Comment

When buying new furniture, everybody wants the new piece to look good, fit into the room perfect and amaze your guest. Sometimes, there are designs that create the trend of the year and you’ll tend to choose something to go with that: modern, exciting, probably expensive, but not that unique.

Choosing from a concept, you’ll have 100% authenticity guarantee if you can watch beyond the fact that you’ll pick your sofa, TV stand or bedroom from a sketch or a computer generated graphic. Yes, I know it sounds a little dangerous, but if you tell the designer exactly how the new piece of furniture should look, specify the desired measurements, fabrics and use, you’ll be amazed.

Now, more and more professional designer choose to present concept instead of final product, because, they can always change an idea based on the feedback received. Most of the concept furniture existing now is following the European style, high quality, modern furniture from Italy, Germany, Spain and Belgium.

This way, for example, you can get a perfect Italian bedroom, as you need it, starting from about $2800. Interesting, right?

6X11 Alpine hut in Slovenia

Posted by elutzik on November 6, 2009 | 1 Comment

This beautiful hut is situated in a small Alpine village, part of Triglav national park in Slovenia, an area with very strict construction rules. It is made of stone, wooden columns, and the facade patterns are taken from local environment with dialog on the surrounding typology. Not only is it beautiful and cozy, but this hut is functional as well: the windows are faced towards the sun, so that in winter-sunny days there’s no need to light the fire, the wooden walls are isolated with black foil that is put behind the wood absorbs the heat of the sun and transforms it onto the walls, rain water is collected from the roof and transported through vertical pipes that are covered with wooden masks. This hut also has 3 bedrooms and baths with sauna on top floor. It is perfect for a family.
